Geographe Outrigger Canoe Racing Club Inc was formed in 1997 by a small group of passionate paddlers wanting to enjoy the fun and team spirit of outrigger canoeing. A sport steeped in history and tradition, Geographe Outriggers endeavours to pass on the joy and values derived from outrigger canoeing to all that choose to participate in this amazing form of paddling.
If you want to get fit and generally have fun on the water or if your passion is competition, we have you covered. Our two pathways include the Recreational and Competitive Pathways, and many club members choose to do both. Geographe Outriggers competes in events and regatta’s involving marathons and sprints throughout both the Summer Series and the Winter series in the WA Zone.
Geographe Outriggers participates in juniors, men’s, women’s and mixed categories throughout the paddling season. See our events page for more about upcoming regattas and social events. Each season there is usually an interstate or international event to aim for.
Outrigger canoeing is about fitness, teamwork and enjoyment on the ocean. With clubs in Perth, Fremantle, Rockingham, Mandurah, Pinjarra, Bunbury and here in Busselton, there is always plenty of healthy competition.
Our club also has some interesting recreational paddling opportunities such as paddling to Meelup Beach, whale watching trips, around the cruise ships, Full moon night paddles, river trips in the single outrigger Va’a, traditional sailing canoes, and the long-haul relay of Bunbury to Busselton for those who love a challenge. There is certainly something for everyone!
